Legacy Reining Sale Expands
The annual Legacy Reining Breeders Sale will be bigger and better in 2011 – a feat that’s hard to imagine when the track record of the champion-producing sale is considered. This year’s sale will include everything the event has come to be known for over the years, as well as an additional day featuring the new Legacy Reining Consignment Sale.
The consignment sale will feature 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds and show horses from the industry’s most successful breeding and training facilities. Top outfits such as Griffin Quarter Horses, Schmersal Ranch, Hutchins Performance Horses, McQuay Stables, Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses, Hendricks Reining Horses and Randy Paul’s Xtreme Performance Horses have already expressed interest in consigning horses, said Mandy McCutcheon of the Legacy Reining Breeders Sale. McCutcheon emphasized that the quality of horses available through the consignment sale will be on par with the level of excellence the Breeders Sale has established.
“We have been thinking about adding a consignment sale for several years, and this seemed like the right time to do it,” McCutcheon said. “The Legacy Sale has already been such a success. People see that the horses offered through the sale in the past have gone on to be winners. It’s the perfect opportunity to get a good one because once people have those great horses, they keep them and don’t want to let them go.” McCutcheon also said the buyers will find some horses consigned that are already paid into the National Reining Horse Association Futurity and enrolled in the National Reining Breeders Classic.
The Legacy Reining Breeders Sale, featuring yearlings and broodmares consigned by the Legacy Breeders (McQuay Stables, Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses, Green Valley Ranch, Putnam Performance Horses, Hendricks Reining Horses, Bob Loomis Quarter Horses, Troy Heikes Quarter Horses, Griffin Quarter Horses and Rosanne Sternberg’s Sterling Ranch), will kick off at Green Valley Ranch, Aubrey, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1:00 p.m., following an 11:30 a.m. lunch. The horses will be available for preview the evening before, Friday, Oct. 14, during an open house and preview party at Green Valley Ranch. All of the Legacy Breeders ranches will be open for farm tours from Oct. 12-14.
Following the conclusion of the Legacy Reining Breeders Sale on Saturday, the horses in the Legacy Reining Consignment Sale will be available for preview. Following an 8:30 a.m. breakfast reception on Sunday, Oct. 16, the consignment sale will begin at 10 a.m., leaving plenty of time for reiners to head to the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Horse Show in Ardmore, Okla.
McCutcheon encouraged anyone interested in consigning their quality reining horses to the Legacy Reining Consignment Sale to contact her at 940-453-7543, Tom McCutcheon at 940-390-7433, Tim McQuay at 940-367-0073 or Dell Hendricks at 940-372-0259.
